It won’t show up on an employment record since its all private. And you will probably get some sort of discount from health insurance (assuming it was negative).

I don’t think an STD test will show up on your record for employment, it seems irrelevant. You will need to check and see if your insurance will cover testing, and if they don’t, try going to a free public health clinic. But I do not think the insurance company will look at an STD test badly- as long as it comes out negative.

millions of people get std test it’s not a big deal

  3. AL329 Says:

It shouldn’t show up on your records for employment , I think it would be covered under the HIPPA law , where they can not release that information . I personally get std tested because I want to know im clean .

  4. Ellen Says:

If you live in the USA your medical records are protected by the HIPPA. (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) This act protects your records and can not be disclosed without your written permission. (except in certain instances, but these do not include Employers)

  5. Res-erected ILF in Disguise Says:

No, it does not look bad. However, employment will not ask you anything about this issue. It is good to regularly get tested for STDs if you have had multiple partners or if you aren’t sure if your partner has had multiple partners. I think people who test frequently are smart, but it’s even smarter to ALWAYS use protection.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  6. LINDA R Says:

By LAW, results of STD testing, or even the fact that you were tested, can not be released to anyone without your written permission. Many people get tested, but there are many more who either ignore their risk, do not realize they are at risk, or are too scared to be tested.

  7. Dimples Says:

To be honest employers can not check your medical record due to HIPAA (a law that protects your medical history). On the other hand, when coding a record there is a code that indicates if a person is “high risk for HIV/AIDS” if that person has that code it might can effect insurance (not so sure). But just STD’s/STI’s in general it shouldn’t affect employment nor insurance! Hope this helps.
